Looking for a great dog shock collar with remote capability? If so, you should definitely check out Dogtra. Thanks to Amazon's 2-day Prime shipping, you can get training quickly with most Dogtra product models.
The Dogtra Arc is my favorite electronic collar for training medium or large dogs. The electronic box on this collar is not as heavy or as bulky as a typical shock collar. This electronic collar is slim and ergonomically shaped to fit the "arc" or curve of a dogs neck perfectly. As a result, it is one of the most sleek and discrete e-collars available.
The Dogtra Arc is a one dog system that can also be expanded into a two-dog system. The remote automatically comes with an extra set of orange buttons for a second collar. If you end up getting a second dog after the fact, you can just purchase an additional receiver to connect to the remote. I love that this expandable feature comes standard with the one dog system because it is much cheaper to buy an additional collar than it is to buy a second full system. I personally own four large dogs and the thought of holding four remotes gives me anxiety. It is so much easier to carry and use two. If one of your dogs has thick or long fur, you can also replace the contact points with longer points.
This collar has a few different stimulation options; a preset nick stimulation (1-127), an emergency continuous stimulation, and a vibration (pager) setting. The black buttons are designed to connect to the first collar and if you choose to connect a second collar, you will pair it with the orange buttons. This particular model comes with a toggle switch on the front of the remote to switch between the nick and continuous settings.
The Dogtra Arc is a lot more precise than other electronic collars. A lot of the competitors that I have seen offer levels 1 through 10 and there is a significant jump in strength between levels. The Dogtra Arc is adjustable 1 through 127 so you can find the exact number that works for your pup. I am not sure if it is necessarily stronger than other brands but it definitely has a better capability to be adjusted.
I absolutely love that the collar and remote are waterproof. I don't typically train hunting dogs or sport dogs but I do enjoy taking my dogs swimming. Just make sure the rubber pieces are properly plugged into the charging ports.
This training system is completely rechargeable. The charger comes with an adapter so you can plug the remote and collar in at the same time. If you connect an additional receiver, you can charge both collars and the remote simultaneously. The electronic box on the collar does not have an on/off button, it actually uses a magnet system. I would imagine that this feature minimizes the chances of a dog accidently turning their collar off. This takes a little getting used to but helps ensure that your pups are safe when they are off their leash.
One of my favorite things about this system is the remote. I prefer the backlit LCD screen so I can clearly see what level my collar is at during the day or at night. This particular remote also comes with a belt clip if you prefer that over the lanyard. This remote and collar work up to 3/4 of a mile away from each other.
As always, I would highly recommend using this equipment with the help of a PROFESSIONAL and REPUTABLE trainer. Advanced training equipment is absolutely fantastic if you know what you are doing. If you do not know what you are doing, you are not doing your dog any favors. Using this equipment improperly can be very unfair to your pup.
